Glacier National Park in Montana

Bighorn Mountain Sheep

A powerfully built animal covered with brown fur but the abdomen, rump, snout and eye areas are usually white. A mature male Bighorn has massive horns which curve back from the top of their head. The hooves have a tough external layer and are soft on the inside making it an excellent mountaineer and high jumper.

The best place to find Bighorn sheep is hiking mountain trails in higher elevations.  In addition, you can often find Bighorns at Logan Pass at the crest of Going to the Sun Road.
