Glacier National Park in Montana

Black Bears

Their name can be a misnomer because black bears can be other colors like brown or cinnamon and some even have white patches on their torso. Black bears are very territorial. Even though they are classified as carnivores, only 25% of their diet is meat. Usually they eat vegetable and plant bits and pieces. Black Bears are solitary and are active in the morning, late evening and night. They can be found throughout the park. To learn more about Glacier's black bears, go here.

* Report all bear sightings to a ranger.
